Of Papa's Birthday @ 2010

Shenny made a foldable birthday card for her Papa this year.  Mommy didn't help much though.

It was a real surprise to her Papa.  Mommy believed this is the most precious one for his birthday presents so far he ever received from his little one.
(Hehe, Shenny chose to buy a bottle of papa's favourite hair gel continuously for last two years as his birthday presents.  She just tried to act funny to her papa during that time.)

Before Shenny wrote anything on the card, mommy reminded her that she could only put a positive word in the card. So, wishes were written on her own thought.

Below are the meaning of her wishes:
* have long live - so that Shenny could see her Papa all the time
* have Good health - so that Papa can not be tired when he is at work in his office
* have a lot of muscle - so that Papa can use one hand to carry Shenny and also can carry his mother
* have a Good time - so that Papa can be happy always

Of all the birthday cakes Shenny saw in the bakery shop, she chose the chocolate cake with white icing and many little hearts for her Papa.

Halloween Charity Party 2010

Backdated post.

On 4th December 2010, Shenny's ballet school organized a Halloween Charity Party.  All classes took part in the dance performance.
Shenny was very excited with this event because finally she could dance on stage again for this year, since she didn't get to do it in her kindergarten.

Her class would perform a "Monster" dance for the event.  In order to have the event smooth running, the participant classes would have to do lots of practices one month before that.  Shenny's class had no exception.  She had to come to class to practice twice a week ( 3 hours in total).

Although the school had advised parents to dress halloween costume, but not many parents did so including mommy and papa.
On that day, Shenny was told to reach the venue 2pm in afternoon though the event only began at 8pm.  Teachers would have to prepare students things like familiar with stages, make up and dress up.  They were many make-up artists there too.

This is the video clip of "Monster" dance Shenny had performed:

Here are few photos to share:

Shenny likes her make-up especially the drawings on her face.
She asked mommy not to wash her face because she wanted to keep this till tomorrow to show her cousins.

Shenny purposely closed her eyes to show her layers of eye shadows.

Adventure in Paris 2010

This is backdated post.

Both mommy and Shenny were excited that finally papa agreed to bring us to adventure in Paris for a few days(3D2N) during our trip to visit her grandmother in The Netherlands (Holland).

We took a fast train (bullet train) to Paris from Rotterdam.  The train took us directly to Paris in 2.5 hours only.   It was a smooth and comfortable train ride.  Shenny could do her drawings and light reading on the train too.

Shenny pretended to read the newspaper while waiting for the train.  The newspaper was written in Dutch.

This is a cafeteria in the train.

Papa had booked us to stay in a hotel next to a metro station at Paris De Est.  That was for our convenience in travelling.
The hotel which we stayed was Hotel Amiot.  We asked for a big bed but the receptionist was kind enough give us a big bed  plus an extra single bed (without extra charge).  So, all of us had ample spaces to stretch our legs and arms after a whole day of walking.
We also had free breakfast every morning in the hotel.  Therefore, we had no worry to ponder what to eat and where to buy after woke up.

This was the first time for both Shenny and mommy to explore Paris while papa was the second time.  Although Papa had visited Paris 10 years ago but he still could remember very well how to navigate us around.  According to him, Paris did not have much change.

Both Shenny and mommy followed papa to explore Paris by taking their metro system.  The metro system in Paris was well-structured, though a bit complicated, but we could reach most of our destinations easily and in a very short period of time.  We could see all walks of life in the train too.  It was a great experience for us.

Shenny was waiting for the train.

These were some pictures we took while in Paris:

Eiffel Tower
We took an elevator to 2nd level of Eiffel Tower to view Paris city.

 Day time view from Eiffel Tower

Nightview from Eiffel Tower

Notre-Dame
We climbed up thousands steps to the roof top of Notre-Dame to see BIG BELL.

We had a fantastic view of whole Paris at Notre Dame.
Arc de Triomphe
We climbed 284 steps to the roof top of the Arc de Triomphe.  Again, we had supert view of the whole Paris city.

We saw two rainbows appeared at each side of La Basillique du Sacre-Coeur (famous white church on a hill).  Some tourists includes us at top of Arc de Triomphe cheered happily when this happened.  We thought this was a miracle.

I'Obelisque
A gift from Eqype to France.  But Shenny thought this was a Giant Pencil.

Busy street at the Arc of Triomph at night.  The Avenue des Champs Elysees ( 名牌街)is at both sides of the Arc of Triomphe.

Both Shenny and mommy wish that papa will bring us to visit Paris again because 3D2N trip is too short for us.

Sinterklaas in Rotterdam

This is a backdated post.

Shenny joined in the Dutch tradition to greet the arrival of Sinterklaas in Rotterdam on 13th November 2010.

On that day, Shenny was excitedly waited at a port for she was told the Sinterklaas would arrived by steamboat and he came from Spain.   There was a big crowd, so papa chose to stand at the higher place, so that we could see clearly when the steamboat came.  There were some singing performances on the stages too.  All songs sang were in Dutch, however Shenny could grab some simple choros they sang. These songs were about chrismas.

Finally, we saw a steamboat approaching the port.  Everyone cheered when the steamboat docked at the port.  The Sinterklaas was accompanied by lots of people dressed up special costume and these people had painted their faces with black colour.
People gathered at a port to greet the arrival of Sinterklaas.

Papa told Shenny that those people are called as Zwarte Piet (Black Pete). They were helpers of Sinterklaas. They helped Sinterklaas to chase away bad people.  On the day of arrival of the Sinterklaas, Zwarte Piet normally would distribute lots of traditional Dutch cookies namely as Peppernoten to all children.  So, Shenny got her share too on that day.

Shenny received some peppernoten from Black Pete.

After the Sinterklaas got off from the steamboat, he soon announced the beginning of festivities and said that children could receive their presents on that night with a big sock hanging next to their beds.
Then he rode on a horse to lead a little parade to go around the Rotterdam town.  We followed behind them for a very short distance and then left for next itenary.

When mommy googled about the history of The Sinterklaas, there were many versions about it.  If aunties and uncles are interested to find out, may check this up at wikipedia.org (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Claus).

Some pictures taken on that morning:

Shenny was happily taking pictures with few Black Pete.
Sinterklaas sat on the stage.

Behind Shenny were those traditional soldiers to guard the Sinterklaas around Rotterdam.
Shenny hold her nose because horses stool were very stink.
Some Black Pete played beautiful musics.

Some Black Pete had to follow behind to collect horses stool too. :)

How To Kill Free Time On Bullet Train

Shenny and her papa & mommy took Thalys (bullet train) from Rotterdam to Paris.  The journey to reach Paris was only 2.5 hours long.  However, Shenny decided to kill her free time on the train by making some drawings.

These were the masterpieces she made when we went there:

And Shenny did the same on our way back from Paris to Rotterdam.  But this time she only spent about 1st hour in drawings and the rest of time in her dreamlands.

Here are two simple drawings she made that very briefly describe a few things she saw in Paris.  Actually, there were more she saw there but she said she didn't know how to draw those.

Few things she saw in Paris
* Rainy Day (cloud crying)
* Good Day (cloud smiling)
* Rainbow
* La Basilique du Sacre-Coeur
* Birds
* Sun and moon together on the sky

Little Chef

This is a backdated post.

After reading one of blogger mommies let her daughter, Malaika make pancake, mommy thought that she should let Shenny had a go on this too.  Normally, mommy just let Shenny stand aside observing.

One Sunday morning, mommy decided to make pancake as breakfast and asked Shenny to help to cook it.  She was extremely excited with this call.

Too bad, mommy forgot to snap photos of Shenny helping to prepare and mix pancake batter.  But luckily mommy remembered to snap few photos and make recording later when she did the cooking.

* Pour batter into pan
* Try to spread the batter
* Checking pancake

* Play with pancake

This video clip shows how Shenny successfully flip over the pancake.

Shenny helped to cook most of pancakes and when she could not roll over the pancake, she would ask for help.

In fact, it was a great surprise for her papa because when Shenny made pancake, papa was still snoring at bed.

Papa gave a thump up to Shenny and mommy believed this definitely the best pancakes papa had ever had.

Found Shenny write this note on her white board.
Mommy helped her to place in comma and fulstop, else her sentences were way too long.
