Swimming on her OWN finally

Regret to say that we live in this condo for nearly 8 years, and we hardly went down to the swimming pool.  Mommy could count the number of our visit by ten fingers. **paiseh**

Actually, Shenny loves to play water in swimming pool and yet papa and mommy not keen to bring her.  Therefore, whenever we bring her down to swimming pool, it is very hard to ask her to come out from water.

Three months ago, mommy bounced into a swimming instructor at the pool area.  Mommy asked him to teach Shenny swimming too.  He taught her twice a week.
To increase her interest and confident, her cousin Hang Hang (7 year old) also joins in the lesson.
In fact, it was GREAT challenge for Shenny as briefly described below:

1st challenge -  Shenny was afraid to dive her head in the water.

Shenny didn't know how to float in the water.  She behaved so stiff when instructor teach her to float with kickboard.
Also, Shenny was so scared to dip her head in water, therefore, when instructor asked her to dive her head in water, she only barely touched her nose in water and quickly walked away.

So, the instructor kept on encouraging her. Then she finally dared to dip her head and breath out in the water.

Shenny loves to dive her head in the water for many many times NOW.

2nd challenge - Shenny didn't know how to float in the water.

The instructer taught her to float by holding on kickboard.

3rd challenge - She becomes horrified when asked to swim without kickboard.
It took few days and few lessons for both mommy and instructer to encourage her to jump into water without kickboard.  To build up her confident, the instructer had to train her in the child pool.

Shenny never wanted to let go her kickboard when swim in adult pool.

4th challenge - Shenny only dared to swim at the child pool without kickboard.
She could do many different stunts in the child pool and became very confident in the water.
However, she STILL didn't want to let go the kickboard at the adult pool.  She was afraid that she could be drawn because her foot could not touch the ground. (Adult pool is 5.5 feet depth)

5th challenge - Shenny could finally swim in the adult pool without kickboard but need an adult next to her.
Her reason is that if she did not have strength to swim, she could grab the person next to her.

Shenny could swim in a very short distance only. She managed to make few (3 or 4) hits in the water and then grabbed on her instructor.

FINALLYShenny overcome her fear and she could swim across the pool without anyone next to her.

Shenny swam across the adult pool.  Her instructor was on the other side of pool looked on her.

Now, she even found her own way to stand in water. Her instructor will teach her proper technique in future.

Mommy and papa felt so relieve and proud of her, she finally could swim after two months hardwork (stop one month in between).

Day by day, Shenny had become more and more confidence in the water.  Although she is a little success, mommy and papa have faith in her that she would excel in her swimming.

Since Shenny began her swimming lesson, mommy accompanied her to swim almost every day.  Now, mommy's swimming skill also improved a lot. :)

Day Trip to I-City

Ha..finally we made our trip to Shah Alam to visit I-City there on last Saturday.

Before going to I-City, we stopped by a shopping center next to the Concode Hotel for lunch.  This was the first time we visited this shopping center and we didn't know what to have for our lunch.  Therefore, we walked around the shopping from ground floor to the highest floor.  Finally, we decided to eat the middle-east food at Sahara Tent Restoran.  In fact, we were attracted to the decoration of the restaurant too.

We didn't know what to order and ask for recommendation.  We were glad because the waiter had made right recommendation for us.
We ordered Mixed Grill, Kus Kus (lamb stew with carrot, potato and egg plant) and Moroccan Vegetable Soup.  Shenny gave a thump up for the food.  Papa ordered Turkish Coffee but mommy didn't like the taste at all.
All these caused us RM79.20 damage, considered worth it. Mommy like Kus Kus very much because mutton was very well stewed until no "yong sou mei" 羊骚味。
Some photos taken in the restaurant.

After satisfied with the food, we headed to I-City nearby around 4pm.   The weather was terribly hot.  We stopped by for about 1 hour to take few photos only.  Most of shops and restaurants were closed at this hour.

These were photos we taken there:

Shenny pretended to pull the sledge.

A beautiful scene to see some birds standing and flying around the "fake" trees.
Shenny pretended to catch a lantern.

We would like to make night trip to I-City too in near future to make comparison.

Visit Papa's Office

Papa decided to bring Shenny and mommy to visit Tanzini (roof top restaurant - 28 floor) near his office at G-Tower on mommy's birthday.  And papa's office is at this tower too.

Before going to restaurant, Shenny and mommy took this opportunity to visit papa's office.
Actually, Shenny had been longing to visit papa's office for quite sometime.   Therefore, she was extremely excited when her wish is granted.

From this visit, Shenny found out papa's working environment.  She got the chance to sit at papa's working desk and meet few of papa's colleagues.  However, she found more exciting things in the PANTRY.

Shenny and papa sat at his working desk, pretend to call someone.

Shenny stood next to a soft drink vending machine.
The drinks are complimentary for all staff and they could drink as much as they want.
Shenny wished to get one too.

Shenny pretended to show her anger when she was not allowed to get the soft drink from the machine.

Shenny said "WOW" when she saw so many chocolate and milk package drinks inside the fridge.  These are complimentary for all staff too.
Haha, Shenny neither got one too.

Shenny leaned against one of walls at pantry.

Shenny found few recycle bins in the pantry.
She gave a thump up for the good act to care about our earth.

Get Well Soon Card

This is a backdated blog.

One month ago, Shenny drew a Get Well Soon card for her uncle (叔叔 shuk shuk)who lived in Hong Kong.  She asked her papa to bring this card for him.

She tried to make this card look cheerful. Therefore, she wrote some positive phrases like "I am happy", "Surprise" and not forgetting to add in lots of heart shapes to convey her love for her uncle.  Hoping these would make her uncle feel better.

When mommy was AWAY

When mommy was AWAY for few weeks, Shenny enjoyed her honey-moon time with her papa.

How did her papa treat his little princess?

Well..here there are:

1) Papa learnt to tie Shenny's hair every morning before school.

2) Papa prepared many yummy-licious breakfast for her and also let her bring to school.  Food that papa prepared for her are:
  • sandwiches with Shenny's favourite ingredients eg. cheeses, fried egg, variety of fruit jams
  • oreo cookies and waffles  Mommy so far never let her bring these to school.
3) Papa bought a box of mini-cone ice-cream that Shenny could eat them at home.  She hardly had chance to eat ice-cream at home if mommy was around.

4) Papa brought Shenny patronize many different restaurants for dinner.  Dishes ordered mostly Shenny's favourite especially noodles.  Mommy always tried to limit her noodle intakes within a week.

5) Papa hardly scolded Shenny when she took her sweet time to dilly-dally do things.  Mommy nagged a lot if she did that.

6) Shenny enjoyed bedtime stories more because papa could finish reading one whole chapter of wishing chair stories every night before sleep.  While mommy took THREE nights to finish a chapter for her.

7) Shenny could roll here and there on bed when papa did reading.  When mommy did bedtime story for her, she had to sit next to mommy and behave.

8) Papa always read for her while Shenny never need to read.  She always felt stressful when mommy asked her to read.

9) Papa could make Shenny go to bed before 10pm and woke up at 7am.  And then she could reach school before 8.30am.  Shenny was happy because she had ample time to play with her friends in playground before class began.  When mommy was around, she always went to bed around 10.30pm because mommy made her read before mommy did bedtime story for her.  She then woke up at 7.45am and reached school around 9am.  Then she missed playtime at playground.

2nd Attempt on Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

Shenny sings Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious inside a shelf.
This is the second attempt to sing the song for recording. This time is better than earlier one, mommy thinks.

Shenny sang it slower and clearer that mommy could catch the words she sang.

Mary Poppins Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

Shenny loves to sing Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious song recently.  She picked up the song from one of her children song collections.
Papa loves this song too and he looked up this song from youtube and repeatedly play for her.  Papa even dug out the whole Mary Poppins movie for her.
Her love to this song become more after her papa let her watch Mary Poppins movie.  The movie was very interesting and long.  Shenny was excited and she could sit in front of tv for two hour without going anywhere.   She enjoyed all the songs and dancing in the movie.

This is another surprise she makes to mommy.  Mommy feels proud of her.

Here is the clip Shenny sing the song:

First attempt to sing the song for recording.  Shenny was too excited that she sang it very quick.
